A short suggestion for those inclined:
As Granny Doc reminded us this week, the debate tonight at the University of Mississippi marks a monumental step in the progress our nation has made in bridging our oldest and most bitter divide.
It would be a gracious gesture for those of us who support Sen. Obama's campaign to acknowledge this landmark moment by thanking the citizens of the Magnolia State for hosting this debate.
Here is a link to a list of Mississippi newspapers. The Clarion Ledger, based in Jackson, is the state's largest paper/news site.
If you wish and have time, do drop a letter to the editor to one of these papers, thanking the state for hosting this debate and congratulating its citizens for this inspiring and historic moment.
While a neutral tone ("Whichever candidate they support, all Mississippians can be proud of this moment. . .") might increase your chances of publication, a little gentle poking at one particular candidate's antics this week ("I'm so glad that the state and the University were able to host this historic debate, despite some uncertainty. . .") might slip by, too. ;)
My apologies for the brief diary. It was originally a diary comment, but, at the encouragement of SemDem and greylox, I thought I'd put it out on the "Recent" list.
