So, I don't even know what to make of this email from the embattled Steve Austria campaign. Atrocious grammar aside, if I'm reading it right, it seems like it's an appeal to Austria's lobbyist friends in the Capitol, directly asking them to lobby their higher-ups to write fat PAC checks to the campaign before the filing deadline at the end of the month. Screenshot and commentary after the jump..
Okay, so this is the email that Steve Austria's campaign just sent out:
This guy is talking out of both sides on his mouth. He's out on the campaign trail talking about eliminating wasteful spending and fixing a corrupt system (when he's not bashing his opponent's family), but then actively soliciting donations from the lobbyists he has "long-term working relationships" with?
I mean, and again, try to ignore the unbelievably poor use of spell-checking in this email, but the narrative he's telling here is that
- We've been working hard to raise money and build grassroots support.
- Our opponent is getting support from the Democratic Party.
- The work we've done on the 'grassroots' part of the campaign can't hold up, so I'm turning to you, my long-time lobbyist friend.
- Can you get other lobbyists to help me?
I mean, I just don't know what's got into the Steve Austria campaign! First plagiarism, then the weird (and unresolved) matter of the military photo op, then the horrifying and callous attack on Sharen Neuhardt because of her support of a Rwandan genocide survivor, and now he's appealing to his lobbyist friends to help him clean up Washington? What is wrong with this guy?
