RE: Nevada poll showing a virtual dead heat in upcoming Nevada caucus.
Markos: "...An Edwards victory here could be rejuvenating, but his problem here is still money."
GernBlanzten: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggggghhhhhh!!!!!"
(more screaming below the fold)
Let me be direct and frank: This is the kind of spit and spittle I expect to hear and see dribbling from the nearly incoherent mouths of people like Tweety and Tucker and Scarborough and Wolfie.
Come on! "Rejuvenating"? How about "shocking"? (Given the traditional media's virtual blackout of Edwards.) How about "exhilarating"? (Given the fact that Obama and Clinton seem content at this juncture to exchange senseless jabs at one another over who is most responsible for the wonderful advances in civil rights made in this country 40-50 years ago?) How about "deeply satisfying" given that it is Edwards who has been driving the debate.
He’s done it again on economic stimulus: last month, before the economic consensus turned as negative as it now has, he proposed a stimulus package including aid to unemployed workers, aid to cash-strapped state and local governments, public investment in alternative energy, and other measures.
As to the rest of your statement ("but his problem here is still money"), I've seen no evidence thus far to support the notion that Edwards yet has a money problem. My position is that all the really, really smart people really, really have forgotten that Edwards in 2004 would have been right up near the top in fundraising and that, four years ago, no one would have questioned--given the amount of money he has raised--that he had sufficient funds to continue at this juncture.
In short, please Kos--as to today's small ray of sunshine and hope for Edwards supporters--this recent poll showing Edwards out of nowhere actually competing with Obama and Clinton--please don't minimize what an Edwards victory could mean in terms of changing the current dynamics ("it's a two-person race!") of this presidential campaign. Most of all, don't do so by parroting the mindless media narrative that is obviously forthcoming from all those "smart people" that most here have come to loathe.
