This is the second quick diary I'm posting about bringing paper-and-pencil RPGs to Netroots Nation, 2008 in Austin.
Here, in the first, we learn that most of the demand is AD&D and D&D 3.5, with a little Grimm thrown in.
Now, all we need to do is figure out how many games, and what times. Terrypinder has ST:TNG or 2300AD, and there are certainly a good number of DMs out there.
Plus, I hear there's going to be a political convention there, too.
So, this poll will be how many games, rough times, and who runs them. I may do a Part III once we know what the schedule for Netroots Nation will be, to lock in times and days.
Again, I urge you, if you want to run something else, play something else, or otherwise participate, to post a comment below. If you have not played and wish to learn, at least one session will be low-level and new person friendly. The new person friendly and the kid friendly games do not have to be the same game.
This is also going to be a minimum - we will at least have an AD&D module and/or adventure, a 3.5 adventure (quite possibly Eberron unless there's virulent antipathy towards it) and a small Grimm d20 adventure.
Oh, and from the last diary:
What the options on the polls mean:
Morning: Starting 10 AM, ending 2 PM - Definitely kid-friendly.
Afternoon: Starting about 1 PM ending about 5 PM - Also definitely kid-friendly.
Evening: Starting about 5 PM, ending probably about 10PM. - Probably kid-friendly.
Night: Starting 8 PM, ending 1 or 2 AM or when we can't take any more. Probably not kid-friendly.
Systems:
First Edition: Old-school Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I'll let you know if Unearthed Arcana is used.
Second Edition: Second Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.
3.5: The (as of this writing) current version of Dungeons and Dragons.
Fourth Edition: The latest version of Dungeons and Dragons, due to be released June 2008.
Hero System (Champions): The Fifth Edition, Revised of the popular superhero game, Champions.
Mutants and Masterminds: A popular superhero system based loosely on 3.5 D&D, and a game that I have neither run nor played at this writing.
Grimm d20: A variant of D&D involving Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Changeling: The White Wolf Storyteller System game involving the Fair Folk.
Also, if you want to play something else (or run something else) let me know in the comments below. I may own it and be willing to run it. I'd be interested in playing systems I don't have, but time and financial pressures will keep me from running something I don't already have.
