This will be a very short entry but I just wanted to share a ridiculous experience from today. Around 4 pm today, I received my first robo-call of the 2008 election season. It was from Mitt Romney. I'm not sure why I got this call, as it came to my cell phone and the call indicated "Margaret" gave them my number. Still, an interesting revelation came from this call. Not only is Mitt Romney apparently playing towards religion, but he seems to have no idea how to sound legitimate in doing so.
So let me get to the point. Here's the transcript from the robo-call, as best as I can remember from the call before I hung up.
"Hello 'circlesnshadows'?"
"Happy Hanukkah"
"This is Mitt Romney. Your friend Margaret told me I should give you a call and tell you about my campaign for President."

Now let me get this straight; a guy who's playing to the Judeo-Christian fundamentalist base doesn't even know that Hanukkah is in December? Or is Mitt so broke that he's recycling calls from last month? Why am I even being identified as a "Jewish" voter? Is Romney really that desperate to win religious voters by wishing them a happy holiday?
Go figure.
Updated: I just remembered another amusing piece of information. The call came from a 202 number, so the call center was located in D.C. If Mitt Romney is running as the Washington outsider, what's he doing locating any arm of his campaign in the Beltway? Hmm.
