The St. Petersburg Times reported C.W. "Bill" Young will seek his 20th (!!!) term in the US House and run for re-election this year. This should be a bucket of cold water on any and all potential candidates who were mulling a run if Young was to retire.
There are no viable opposition candidates for this rather purple district. The only challenger that has presented herself is Samm Simpson who had a recent net based skirmish inspired by her endorsing Ron Paul and being called on it by a progressive activist.
I could spend this diary venting on all fronts on the district (which I border where I live) but I digress and I apologize for the short diary. It's disappointing that there isn't a fresh face or a sensible candidate with consistency and drive, tact and focus on issues that actually matter beyond anti-war activism, to challenge Bill Young. Maybe that will change in the coming weeks and months but with Tampa Bay's overall political landscape and the deep respect held for Bill Young by local politicians, I highly doubt seeing FL-10 legitimately challenged this cycle.
