I didn't see this result here, so I thought I'd throw this up on the site -- for those of you who wanted to know what the final result was.
From the website Stone Soup Musings (quoting Markmaynard.com):
I can’t find official numbers, but according to a comment left at Democratic Underground dotcom, the Edward’s "money bomb" fell dismally short of the $7 million dollars that had been hoped for. Apparently, about $1 million was raised. That’s not bad, I suppose, for a really unorganized last-minute effort, with no help at all from the national campaign, but I think we were all hoping for quite a bit more.
I know that the goal was to raise $7 million but, really--an almost spontaneous effort that results in an additional $1-2 million to JRE's campaign coffers is pretty darn amazing.
Kudos to all those who organized and participated.
I'd like to just add for all of those people out there who were disappointed with their candidates' showings yesterday, that we need to keep this one thing in mind: the movement to change the way things are done in America and the world is not just about one person or one party or one state or even one election year cycle. It's about you and me fighting on regardless of what all the "smart people" on the TeeVee tell us. It's about what you do, not what they say.
It's about efforts like the one led by KingeOneEye. It's about all of these new voters who are now participating in the democratic process.
I know that the sunset empire shudders and shakes
I know there's a floodgate and a raging river
I say the silence of the ribbons of iron and steel
I say hear the punch drunk huddle drive hammer and steel
Sometimes you're beaten to the call
Sometimes you're taken to the wall
But you don't give in
I know that the cannibals wear smart suits and ties
I know they arm wrestle on the altar
I say don't leave your heart in a hard place
Sometimes you're shaken to the core
Sometimes the face is gonna fall
But you don't give in
