Criticizing Obama's Iraq votes is ridiculous--at least if you are Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton or anyone else who initially supported the Iraq invasion or voted foolishly to give President Bush the power of war and just hoped that somehow he would not use it like the dick he is.
As a disclaimer, I support Edwards and Obama is my second choice of the Big 3.
Fact: Obama opposed the Iraq War Authorization and the Iraq War.
Fact: Hillary Clinton voted to give Bush the authority to invade Iraq, and Hillary supported the Iraq War and occupation.
Right or wrong, both Clinton and Obama believe that imemdiate withdrawal from Iraq would make the situation in Iraq worse. Both Clinton and Obama believe that the US has an obligation to do more in Iraq and then withdraw carefully.
Saying that "only one vote" separates Obama and Clinton on the war is like Bush people saying that the Niger yellowcake lies were "only 15 words" (or whatever number it was) or that "only one breath" seperates dead people from living people. I feel like I am talking to my 4-year old son by saying this, but while that statement is technically true, there is an enormous difference between a living person and a dead person. THERE IS ALSO AN ENORMOUS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OBAMA AND CLINTON ON THE WAR
Consider this analogy: What if Farmer #1 starts a fire in the barn against the advice of Farmer #2. After the fire starts, are you going to criticize Farmer #2 for trying to help put out the fire? Maybe the fire will just get worse and threaten the entire farm and maybe Farmer #2 should just run for the hills, but you can not reasonably criticize Farmer #2 for trying to solve the damn problem that he specifically anticipated and warned against. You sure can not claim that Farmer #2 is in anyway responsible for the damn fire. You can not equate Farmer #1 to Farmer #2. Farmer #1 is responsible and should be thankful that Farmer #2 is trying to help her out of the damn mess she was warned not to create in the first place.
For those 4-year olds in the crowd: Clinton is Farmer #1, Obama is Farmer #2. Now, I have to go and do a #2.
