I've sent messages to Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama making clear that if Bush smirks in victory over FISA at his State of the Union speech Monday night, neither senator will have my support on Super Tuesday.
Here's what I wrote:
Will you be a winner or a loser on Monday night, at the State of the Union speech?
Will the cameras catch you watching President Bush crow about his latest victory over Congress?
Or will you be able to level a steady gaze of victory, having helped defeat amnesty for law-breaking telecom companies?
I vote in the Kansas caucuses on Super Tuesday.
I won't vote for you if Bush beats the Senate on the FISA bill and either wins amnesty for the phone companies or makes it legal to eavesdrop on Americans' international communications without a warrant.
Be a leader, now. NOW.
I'd like to vote for one of them, but I'll give my vote to Edwards if they don't lead in the Senate. And without their leadership, without them twisting arms to change wayward Democrats' votes, FISA will become a tool of oppression and suppression.
If you're so inclined, you can write them too, and hold Super Tuesday over their heads.
