What a day this has been!
This diary (currently near the top of the recommended list) details a dramatic collapse seen for Hillary in today's Rasmussen daily tracking poll, and rising numbers for both Obama and Edwards.
I have to say, this was a fascinating development. Was the Rezko thing somehow helping Obama? Were Bill's so-called "red-faced lying tirades" backfiring?
At any rate, it seemed as though the tide might suddenly be turning in Obama's favor.
Oops....stop the presses!
In an equally dramatic turn-around that will be talked about for weeks, Gallup weighed in today with its own tracking poll (taken from 1/23-1/25) and found:
Among Democrats, little change on the eve of Saturday's South Carolina primary. Hillary Clinton maintains a significant lead over Barack Obama at the national level. Despite some discussion of polling showing John Edwards gaining in South Carolina, among Democrats nationally, Edwards remains in deep third place, 21 points behind Obama and 36 points behind Clinton.
The numbers for today (and yesterday) are:
Clinton 47% (47%)
Obama 32% (31%)
Edwards 11% (12%)
I predict another massive shake-up tomorrow, with Clinton zooming into a massive lead, Obama flat-lining, Edwards faltering, and Gravel unexpectedly surging into third place. This will of course be followed shortly by another poll showing the previous to be bullshit.
