One of the passages from Obama's speech tonight that sent a historical wave of awe over me was his story of women who supported Thurmond that now campaigned for him (quote below). If that doesn't represent how this nation has changed, I don't know what has. I suppose nearly anything is possible. If he can get more people to cross this bridge with him, America is in for a historic change. I hope and pray.
"When I hear that we’ll never overcome the racial divide in our politics, I think about that Republican woman who used to work for Strom Thurmond, who’s now devoted to educating inner-city children and who went out onto the streets of South Carolina and knocked on doors for this campaign. Don’t tell me we can’t change."
