Voting Machines. After the New Hampshire primary there were dozens of posts about how there must have been cheating, fraud, or broken voting machines. Yet, today, I don't see anyone on daily kos posting about the issue of faulty voting machines in South Carolina.
I do not believe there is fraud in either case, but I do think the hypocrisy is appalling and something I would expect from Tim Russert and the mainstream media, not from daily kos diarists.
The Politics of Hope. Once again the obama campaign is creating a Republican talking point instead of putting forth a positive agenda for America. I understand that part of the reason is because Senator Obama is all style and no substance, but to continually rely on arguments about electability is a dangerous strategy.
SW MOTo the woman who claimed that campaigning for Hillary was a lost cause in southwest Missouri on a previous blog. I would just like to let you you know that after a day of door knocking (please note we were canvassing entire neighborhoods not just Democratic households) i am happy to report there is a lot of enthusiasm about Clinton.
Black/Young Voters. A black girlfriend of mine pounded the pavement for Hillary today. When I asked her why she had decided to dcome out she said that it was important for the world to know that black people did support Hillary regardless of what the media is saying. I added that it is also important for people to see that young people are inspired by Hillary Clinton. You honestly would not know that any black or young people supported Hillary if you relied upon the mainstream media for news.
Obama supporters go after Bill. Observe
Last week, Clinton was blasted by Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, an Obama supporter, for taking "glib cheap shots" that are "beneath the dignity of a former president." He was excoriated by Ed Schultz, the nation's top liberal radio talk host, for "lying about Barack Obama's record" and "embarrassing" the Democratic Party. Tom Daschle, the former Senate Democratic leader who has endorsed Obama, warned that Clinton's "overt distortions" were "not presidential" and could "estroy the party" if not checked.
These people are free to go after Bill Clinton in anyway they see fit. So before you start posting angry comments make sure to read everything I write. I am not attacking them for going after Clinton. I am attacking the author for acting as if they are doing it because they actually have an objection to Clinton's behavior. Every singe person quoted as piling on the former President is an obama supporter. The headline should read "Obama supporters try to win election."
There was also more idiocy from the same editorial
Hillary likes to claim she is "running to break the highest and hardest glass ceiling," but with Bill back in the White House, would it ever be clear just where the lines of authority really ran? What could possibly check and balance the extraconstitutional power of a presidential spouse who was also a former president? Anytime he wants it, Bill Clinton can have the spotlight. In a revived Clinton presidency, would he be content to remain in his wife's shadow? Or would she continue - as she continues even now - to be in his?
Hillary's campaign IS historic. She is breaking down the walls of sexism simply by running as the first viable female candidate. She has defied expectation, and yet still these attacks come not only from the right but from other Democrats.
Florida and Michigan.Does no one understand that Clinton is the only Democratic candidate that is not isolating Michigan and Florida. I understand the Obama and Edwards supporters are upset because she already won Michigan, but it is a political reality that Democrats HAVE to win Michigan and probably Florida as well. Clinton has been the only candidate with the foresight to understand that if she gets the nomination she will need people to think she advocated for their rights.
Not to mention the complete lack of concern for voter disenfranchisement by deciding not to seat delegates because they violated DNC rules.
And by the way here is what HRC actually said
"I hear all the time from people in Florida and Michigan that they want their voices heard in selecting the Democratic nominee.
"I believe our nominee will need the enthusiastic support of Democrats in these states to win the general election, and so I will ask my Democratic convention delegates to support seating the delegations from Florida and Michigan. I know not all of my delegates will do so and I fully respect that decision. But I hope to be President of all 50 states and U.S. territories, and that we have all 50 states represented and counted at the Democratic convention.
"I hope my fellow potential nominees will join me in this.
"I will of course be following the no-campaigning pledge that I signed, and expect others will as well."
Why is this an article? Yes... some Obama supporters are mad that Hillary Clinton got an endorsement of the New York Times. Thank you. I was unaware that would be the case until I read an ENTIRE article devoted to it.
The Republican PlaybookSenator Obama's campaign along with Senator McCaskill are now borrowing directly from McCaskill's 2006 opponent Jim Talent. What a joke. Compare and contrast the following quotes
This is from Senator Obama's talking points
"Whether it is Barack Obama’s record, her position on Social Security, or even the meaning of the Florida Primary, it seems like Hillary Clinton will do or say anything to win an election."
And now Jim Talent's
Jim Talent, says his Democratic opponent, Claire McCaskill, aged 53, is a "liar" who will not hesitate "to cheat" to get elected.
Did I write compare and contrast? There really is not contrast so just compare.
This is really sickening.
