I don't have a lot of content for this diary, but I just wanted to share a little bit about what happened at my caucus tonight in Strawberry Point. First off, the organization that Obama had in Iowa was nothing short of phenomenal. There were two guys and two girls at my precinct from somewhere in Illinois running things for the Obama camp and this was in a town of about 1200 people. I can't imagine how organized the bigger areas were, but I knew it was a knockout for Obama right off the bat when about half of the people in attendance were wearing Obama gear.
One thing I did not appreciate was the fact that the Obama organizers started herding Richardson supporters to Obama saying that Richardson had given direct orders for them to join the Obama camp. They effectively surrounded them and walked them over to the Obama corner. I'm sure that this happens all the time in other precincts but it really made me mad that somebody that isn't even from this state is taking control of the process.
I know half of my issue is with the way that my precinct conducted the caucus but it's real shady of campaigners to go to such lengths to boost their numbers when they already have a good chunk of the voting bloc. There wasn't really a discussion of the issues, just orders to fall in line. Anyway, I hope that in the future everybody that reads this and works for a particular candidate will respect the process more instead of pulling tricks for their preferred candidate.
