I've avoided the flame wars and constant attacks on the candidate diaries. I've already made up my mind as to who I favor, and the bottom line is that I'm going to vote for the nominee, whoever it is. I'm certainly NOT going to vote for whoever Wingnuttia puts up.
That said, I've been on DKos for just over three years and I love the sense of community here. Granted, I do avoid the conflict: I'm a Pisces, so take that for what it's worth.
But tonight I went to my very first Drinking Liberally here in the Emerald City, and my heart is STILL overflowing with what I encountered.
I met individuals affiliated with Darcy Burner's (WA-08) campaign, and they, like her, light up a room with their intelligence and enthusiasm. I met geeks like me who've worked a variety of campaigns, including one who took time off work to spend a week on the ground in Iowa for John Edwards.
And I met the Seattle-land stars, McJoan, N in Seattle, and Switzerblog. They were kind, patient, and willing to be worshiped by this unworthy supplicant. I was floored that McJoan even knew who I was!
I love Daily Kos. I don't always agree with all of you, and sometimes it gets ugly. Just remember that we're all in this for one reason, and that's to bring an end to the right-wing agenda this year and rebuild this country. Period. And when even Kossack luminaries are approachable and willing to chat, you know you've found a home.
Hat tip,
Auntie
