I'm cranky about the media narrative out of New Hampshire. Hillary, Obama, and to a lesser degree Edwards all won. They all passed the threshold to get delegates and made respectable showings. Also, in my fanciful world of a single day national primary, we would be looking the national popular vote. So, here it is so far (I'll try to keep that page updated).
In short: Obama 37%, Clinton 35%, Edwards 23%, Richardson 3.5%, Kucinich 1%, Biden, Dodd and Gravel eat the roundoff. This with 515000 votes cast, and we should expect several million before the primaries are over.
One problem in making this data, I had to work backwards from total Dem turnout and final delegate count in Iowa. I'd love to see it if anyone has a better source of how many people voted for which candidate in Iowa (I suspect there isn't one and only the final delegate count remains).
So, what do you think? Can we change the media narrative so that the don't imagine up winner-take-all primary results where there aren't any? Can we have later voters still get their vote before media buzz gives a coronation?
