I am an original baby boomer--yep 1946--but I haven't forgotten the energy, exuberance, and chaotic late 60's and early 70's. My thought processes and politics were formed during that time and they haven't changed one iota. I never believed in this country more than when Nixon was impeached because it symbolized that the principles of the constitution could and would work if enough leaders had the courage. There has been precious little of that validation in the past 30 years--to the total detriment of our country. The media wasn't totally owned and spun by the corporations then and there were multitudes of papers and periodicals who took risks and told the truth. A couple of those periodicals have survived and two of them are The Nation and Rolling Stone.
Today, for all you wonderful Kos writers and readers, I would like to point you to a couple of exceptionally written, fact based, liberal biased articles in Rolling Stone, one on McCain and the other on the culture which created Sarah Palin. Both are in the October 16 issue of Rolling Stone--http://www.rollingstone.com You will learn a couple of new things in the McCain piece and it compiles a lot of what we already know in one place. Matt Taibbi's cynical, scathing, truthful insights into the current American culture and the rise of Sarah Palin is a great read. It is also extremely humorous and sarcastic. For instance, he describes Sarah Palin's acceptance speech as . . . "like watching Gidget address the Reichstag."
This is my first diary and I don't expect much. I hope it is not repetitive of another post. I just wanted to call attention to good writing, great research, incisive criticism, and to the fact that there is still some great liberal media out there. Ohhh, I almost forgot, Jann Wenner, who is the publisher of Rolling Stone arranged for copies of this Rolling Stone to be sent to the mailboxes of some wingnut bloggers like Michelle Malkin, et al. and they are not happy. I think the link is on the Rolling Stone page.
