Sarah Palin sent me a letter today. Which on its face is quite amazing since we don't know each other. I am reminded of another time in my life when I received mail from high ranking political figures. It was 2002 and a letter from the President of the United States made it to me through my army unit. The first sergaent and commander, CPT. Lewis, were both made aware of such a high profile dispatch making its way to me. A staff sergaent was given the important envelope and told to deliver it immediately.
I sat in the C&J office (we were linguists - C&J stands for Collection and Jamming) when the letter arrived. Everyone was curious so I played on that and decided I would open it later, at home.
It was a print out asking me to vote for Republicans in Virginia, of course, not a true letter from W. I doubt he cares enough about troops to actually spend the time to handwrite a letter to me. But it was a humerous little anecdote I had floating around that pertained to this...
Sarah Palin sent me a letter today.
In it, she launched broadsides at Joe Biden and Barack Obama and the liberal "gotcha" media. She mentioned how they had raised 1 billion dollars but that Americans were rejecting the negative attacks of the Democrats. With just $2000 they would be able to turn the tide- get out the vote and take the country back.
The envelope said No Postage Due- but there was an entreaty that begged me to use my own stamp to save them much needed funds.
This is when it dawned on me. I took to writing Sarah a letter. It read:
Sarah Palin,
If you are going to perpetuate with "bridge to nowhere" which is your candidacy then you will have to pay for it yourself. Tell John, Todd & the kids... thanks but no thanks.
Signed,
Voter - Commonwealth of Virginia
With that I left the envelope devoid of my own stamp and mailed it. McCain campaign = fail.
