When the "Ticket For America" doesn't care to explain it's plan for America, yet offers nothing but slanderous accusations in order to drum up support for a flagging ticket, what is their actual purpose? And why should anyone care?
More after the break.
So here I sit, facing my own economic, healthcare and, yes, housing crisis. All I see around me is uncertainty and doom and gloom. The markets are below 9,000 for the first time in five years (so much for Neil Cavuto’s hootin’ and hollerin’ about "All time highs" in 2006). People are losing their homes and jobs, and I’ve read two highly recommended diaries here to that effect.
This isn’t a joke, people. We’re in serious times, and if I understand it correctly, serious times require serious people.
So, what does the self-professed "team of mavericks" have to offer as a remedy to these crises that Americans face?
Nothing more than a harangue about William Ayers and how we as Americans ought not to trust Barack Obama with the keys to the White House, because he sat on a charity board with him. With your fellow Republicans, might I add?
That’s it, huh, mavericks?
The solution to unemployment is...some malarkey about we can’t trust Barack Obama, because he’s a "terrorist sympathizer"?
The solution to the mortgage crisis is...reminders about how Bill Ayers is a terrorist?
The solution to the decline of our economy is...ad hominem attacks against the people in Obama’s neighborhood? Or dropping "Barack Hussein Obama" crackbacks? Or making not-so-subtle racist suggestions? Or calling him a terrorist?
Give me a damn break, Senator McCain and Governor Palin.
You cannot be serious. Matter of fact, you aren’t serious. For, if you had a plan of any account to offer the American people at this point, surely you and your surrogates wouldn’t be reduced to offering us nothing more than forked-tongued sermons in front of a rabid choir.
By all accounts, you two have run the worst Republican campaign in modern history, and now you’ve decided to embarrass yourselves and the rest of the country with you. And what’s worse; you’ll say all this about him in front of the rabid dogs you call supporters. You promise to take the fight to him, like you did last week—does the phrase "How about Tuesday night" ring a bell?
Yet, when presented the opportunity Tuesday, couldn’t even utter one phrase or sentence about Ayers. Given your military valor, sir—the one you bring up at every opportunity you can—you have proved yourself a coward.
And even today, when one of the dogs begged you to "please, please bring up Reverend Wright"? You promised him that you would. We’ll see, I suppose; but given your cowardice on Tuesday, if it never comes up, I wouldn’t be surprised. But if it does, and you drag out the chorus of Ayers, Wright, and Antonin Rezko? Your shallow, phony campaign for president will end on that floor in Hempstead, New York.
And it will end, if for nothing more than you will have proven that you are inept, and would continue such ineffectiveness into the presidency, that it would send this nation to ruin. You have appointed, as your sidekick, a woman who is no more qualified to be vice president than the Executive of Prince Georges County; a woman who can’t name one single news source she reads at one place, then is able to name a source at an instant in order to continue the "Obama’s a scary black Muslim Terrorist(...allegedly)" meme, then blames the media for her inability to answer a question such as, "Can you name any other Supreme Court case you disagree with?"
Sarah Palin is but a microcosm of the McCain campaign for president; you don’t select people because of their fitness for office, do you Senator? No, you merely pick them just to create a media buzz, and steal the spotlight, if only for a fleeting moment. Just like when you "quit" campaigning for a microsecond to do nothing on a federal bailout package, then tried to act as if you were some sort of hero--when all you did was sit around your office in Arlington. Just like those staged town halls that you wanted to drag Obama around. It’s all a show, and it’s all as fake as you both appear to be.
Oh, what a fool I must have been, to suggest that if Hillary Clinton were to win the Democratic nomination for president, that I would have given my vote to McCain. Hillary Clinton may not be perfect, but she’s shown more class in defeat than McCain has ever shown in competition.
And even when the Playtime Mavericks do make the occasional foray into discussing actual policy, it changes so often and so quickly, I have to make sure that the plan I see on the table didn’t lose twenty sentences before it was presented to me.
Therefore, the only conclusion I draw from all this bleating about "Obama’s associations" is that McCain, Palin, and by extension, the Republican Party have absolutely nothing to offer America, in terms of actual solutions that would fix this situation that the rest of us are going through. In that sense, Obama and Joe Biden nailed: it’s more of the same trickle-down, deregulation, anti-government bull. It’s just that McCain and Palin can’t be honest enough to level with the American people and tell us that.
Then again, that’s assuming that the "mavericks" had the ability to be honest. And unless they’re inciting fear and hate, they can’t do that with a straight face.
They have nothing to offer America. They have no plan, nor purpose, to move this country forward. They are nothing more than empty suits, flashy dresses, sparkly lapels, fake accents, and winks.
Which is why, come November 4th, they’re bound to lose.
