I know I will take a lot of heat for this but I do think John McCain is an honorable man. I think he is incredibly uncomfortable running the kind of campaign that he is running, but being so close to the presidency after being derailed in 2000 might just be pushing him to these new measures.
This is a rather short diary but it must be said. During the Republican primary I had a lot of respect for McCain as he challenged his opponents on torture to immigration reform.
I think it is certainly unfortunate that John McCain will have to be the one to take the fall for a party in disaster, lets be clear the Republican establishment and many conservatives don't like John McCain. I would have much rather beat a slime ball like Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and even George Allen (if his racism hadn't showed up 2 years ago).
John McCain is the best Republican candidate that the party could have put forward this election cycle and he is losing and many conservatives and the establishment who doesn't like John McCain will have all the more reason not to like him after this election and retire him from the senate.
I know nobody will agree with me on what I'm saying and that is in large part because we are in the middle of a heated partisan election. I know for a fact that if Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani were the nominee of their party against Barack Obama they wouldn't lose a wink of sleep or feel a bit uncomfortable about attacking Obama wherever necessary, they're those types of guys.
The upside to this whole thing is we sure as hell won't ever have to worry about Sarah Palin on the national scene again. I'm sure she and her husband will certainly want their state to be independent after she endures this ass whoopin from the other 49 states.
