Osama Bin Laden is one of the wild cards about this election. Whether a video going to surface of him proclaiming Obama as his choice or a terrorist threat or indeed an attack(God forbid),how does Obama deal with the Bin Laden at all?
This is a valid question as it was raised on fivethirtyeight.com as a possibility. It also brought up the fact that Osama had released a video four days before the election in 2004 which people believe may have brought up the vote for Bush.Bin Laden is in favour of war and the best candidate in order to antagonise his people with which was obviously George bush who lets face it likes having wars and being macho enough in being a wartime president. And also we all know that McCain is also 'shoot first and and ask questions' laterkind of person person. Apart from the psychological mind games, I just don't know how it would play in the minds of wavering voters that already have been dosed with fear for the last 8 years. The question raised here is whether they have been innoculated by the bush administration who after all have played them for chumps for so long.
I am not fearful of how Obama would react-he would make a great speeches, enumerating the ways bush let bin Laden get away into pakistan and restate what we heard in the debate of how he would without compromises hunt him down and kill him. He also would say about how we should concentrate on Afghanistan and how there was a big mistake in regard to Iraq which has rocked the middle east and made it a hotbed of anti-americanism and recruitment drive for terror.
Another phrase which should be used by Obama is the 'only thing to fear is fear is fear itself' and how better to see the difference between bush and Obama to see who uses fear to elect oneself and who uses hope!
Of course Obama would be far more eloquent and find more reasons but this is just the basics-it also helps that the opposition seem barely competent and people are worrying about the economy. But we also know that the republicans feed off fear and division and eke out every vote they can from fear possible.I mean can they resist right now playing up Obama's middle name and a letter of difference between Obama and Osama (and we should mention that voting cards have been printed repeating Osama instead of Obama-WTF).No they can't leave that elementary school stuff behind and apparently being muslim is a dirty word which Obama is so patently not(I mean how many more times can he say he is christian!)
The true wild card is a terror attack. But I believe in Barack Obama and I also know in such a circumstance he would prove to be more of a leader than John McCain or any other ever could whether it happen now or when he is a sitting president. He has always shown himself to be a serious calm inspirational leader(as shown during the economic crisis of present days) and I have no reason to believe he not be in darker days to come.
I would appreciate any responses and suggestions as to this subject.
