Alert level: Nervous
After McCain unveiled a new mortage proposal at the Tuesday debate, completely changed it on Wednesday, and had it trashed by economists by Thursday, his campaign said they would be unveiling new economic proposals on Monday, then said they never had any plans to unveil new economic proposals, then said they always had plans to unveil new economic proposals, just on Tuesday, yes indeedy, no we’re not making this up as we go along.
With that in mind, I’m putting the campaign stunt level at yellow for Tuesday. Like the actual terror alert system, I have a feeling this one is never going below yellow either and will coincidentally rise as the election nears.
One could argue that today’s level should be at orange, as there is a high correlation between anything new from the McCain campaign and stuntiness, but launching a stunt requires a certain amount of organization and planning, and the intelligence community thinks the McCain campaign may be too weak at the moment to pull one off.
