At a rally on Monday John McCain had no problem letting Hank Williams Jr. adapt "Family Tradition" into a new campaign theme song: "The McCain-Palin Tradition."Does McCain realize what the tradition entails?
At Monday's rally, McCain seemed very happy to have Hank Williams Jr. adapt his song "Family Tradition" into his new campaign song.

It's always sweet when a singer is willing to modify a hit for the campaign - especially after those women in Heart and other stars have condemned McCain for using their songs without asking permission.
You can see the new lyrics here:

and watch it here:
But what interests me is the real song. First off it's a song about a guy who is burdened by living up to the greatness of his father. What son and grandson of 4 Star Admirals couldn't relate to "i kinda changed my direction/ i guess i went and broke the family tradition."
But it's the big finale of the original that seems to support the smoking of a felony:
So don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs you wrote?
Stop and think it over
Try and put yourself in my unique position
If I get stoned and sing all night long
It's a family tradition!
If John McCain approves the "message" and it's underlying themes, does that mean that John McCain has no problem legalizing marijuana? For all the talk about a certain candidate being connected to a criminal, John McCain has allowed himself to be linked to a drug abuser.
Does John McCain approve getting stoned and singing all night long?
EXTRA:
Turns out that Hank Williams Jr. likes to terrorize waitresses;
APRIL 4. 2006--Country singer Hank Williams Jr. today surrendered to cops on a warrant charging him with throttling a hotel waitress last month in Memphis. Williams, 56, is facing an assault rap for allegedly choking Holly Hornbeak during a March 18 confrontation in the Peabody Hotel lobby bar. According to a complaint affidavit, Hornbeak, 19, told cops that Williams (full name: Randall Hank Williams Jr.) verbally abused her and made other inappropriate comments during the bizarre incident. The tirade apparently began after a Williams crony asked Hornbeak if she knew who Williams was. When she said no, Hornbeak recalled, the singer replied, "I'm Hank Williams Jr., bitch." After Williams unsuccessfully tried to kiss her, the report states, he "grabbed her by the neck from behind, choking her."

Hank Williams Jr. Assault Case Dropped
The Associated Press
Sunday, February 25, 2007; 12:51 AM
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A misdemeanor assault case against Hank Williams Jr. has been dismissed, nearly a year after a cocktail waitress accused the country singer of yelling obscenities and choking her at a local hotel, a prosecutor said.
"We didn't feel we had a case we could prove," District Attorney General Bill Gibbons said Friday.
Holly Hornbeak, who was 19 at the time of the alleged assault on March 18, testified that Williams, 57, left red marks and bruised her neck when he choked her.
Gibbons would not say whether Hornbeak wanted to drop the case or if the parties reached a financial settlement. A private attorney hired by her parents demanded $250,000 from Williams two days after the alleged assault, but Hornbeak denied that the case was driven by money.
