Or so that's what Andrew Sullivan at the Atlantic says. Here's the text of his post below:

Obama-McCain: 53 - 39?
That's what I hear the NYT/CBS poll will record tomorrow. A national fourteen point lead. They've already reported an 89 percent "wrong track" number.

He might be right or wrong on this. Feel free to use this diary as a liveblog of the CBS/NYT poll. I'll add in more information as it gets released when the poll hits the CBS Evening News tonight.
This would be the lowest that John McCain's ever been in a national poll, which would definitely spur even more attention about the tactical campaign mistakes of McCain's campaign, and add even more pressure on him for tomorrow's debate.
This isn't the position that McCain wants to be in spite of his campaign strategist, Steve Schmidt, saying "We've got them where we want them!" John McCain, here's some news for you--Obama has YOU where he wants YOU to be, not the other way around.
EDIT: JUST CONFIRMED ON MSNBC and HIT CBS as well.
Here's the CBS link:
The Obama-Biden ticket now leads the McCain-Palin ticket 53 percent to 39 percent among likely voters, a 14-point margin. One week ago, prior to the Town Hall debate that uncommitted voters saw as a win for Obama, that margin was just three points.
Among independents who are likely voters - a group that has swung back and forth between McCain and Obama over the course of the campaign - the Democratic ticket now leads by 18 points. McCain led among independents last week.
McCain's campaign strategy may be hurting hurt him: Twenty-one percent of voters say their opinion of the Republican has changed for the worse in the last few weeks. The top two reasons cited for the change of heart are McCain's attacks on Obama and his choice of Sarah Palin as running mate.
Ouch. DIGG THE HELL OUT OF THIS!!!!
