Howard Stern recently had a bit on his radio show where he sent a guy into Harlem to interview people on the presidential candidates. The catch was that the interviewer would present a candidate as supporting his opponent's policies, and even mismatched the vice presidential candidates.

There you have it. Three Obama supporters in favor of continuing the war, pro-life policies, banning stem cell research, and having Sarah Palin as VP. One McCain supporter who thinks McCain is going to bring the troops home and do some great work with Joe Biden as VP.
I really, truly hope these thoughtless individuals represent the minority of the voting population. The first three Obama supporters were bad enough, agreeing with whatever the interviewer told them as long as he tied it to Obama. The last one, the McCain supporter, suggested it was McCain's desire to get out of Iraq without any prompt from the interviewer. How can anyone be this misinformed on the issues?
Is it appropriate for people with such a poor grasp of the candidates' platforms to go to the polls at all? Did we end up with eight years of Bush because people are punching holes and pulling levers for names rather than ideas?
If voters like these are the norm, well ... yikes.
