I'm not certain if this is the place to offer this, but it occurred to my husband and I that there may be some bloggers here that need a place to stay while covering the debate and we live less than a mile from Hofstra and have a spare room. You can also park near our house.
There is an Obama rally near us today, too (oh I'm so excited! We aren't a swing state and no one ever campaigns here!)
If you do need a place tonight, and have a DailyKos account, contact my husband at random_interference AT yahoo.com His name is Bill. Please leave a comment on this indicating you will be contacting him, too, so that we can confirm you are the dailykos diarist you claim to be.
The debate has made Hofstra campus a flurry of political activity. They started their Educate '08 series, which included talks by a wide range of pundits and activists and politicians including Amy Goodman, Gloria Steinham, and Stephanopolis. Students seem excited. Professors are clearly excited. I think most students are voting Obama, although one of my students wore a McCain shirt yesterday. (Don't worry, it won't affect his grade.)
Unfortunately, after the school gave the two parties their allotment of tickets to the debate, there were only about 100 left over. Those were given to the professors whose research interests could benefit from seeing the debate (not me) and there was a lottery of students to distribute the rest. But the excitement here is tangible today!
