Last night at the debate the Senator from Arizona said, ""Every time there's been an out-of-bounds remark made by a Republican, no matter where they are, I have repudiated them."
He lied.
Now, i'm not counting the recent events at crowded rallies where he has plausible deniabilty about whether he heard them call for Obama to be murdered.
But John McCain has NOT repudiated out-of-bounds remarks, everytime, they've been made.
John McCain is a liar when he says "Every time there's been an out-of-bounds remark made by a Republican, no matter where they are, I have repudiated them."
Except that one time one of his supporters called Hillary Clinton a "bitch" right to his face. He didn't repudiate that comment. He laughed. And said, "That's an excellent question."
He's either lying, or he doesn't think calling a woman a "bitch" is an out of bounds comment.
And what's even more frustrating, is that the corporate press will let this lie go. Just now on Hardball, some mccain hack repeated the claim about repudiating comments everytime they've been made.
And Tweety Bird didn't seem to remember or challenge him on this.
Now, I know this event happened 7 billion years ago in political terms, and you can't expect the corporate media to remember what happened last week, let alone last year, but this is a most blatant example of John McCain claiming one thing about his record, while the truth is quite different.
He can't claim plausible deniability here. He can't say he didn't hear it. And he didn't repudiate it, either.
He laughs, and says, "That's an excellent question."
