Not surprising, really, this is the land of San Francisco Values and all.
So not surprising that I'm headed for the hills of Carson City Nevada this afternoon to canvass for Obama as that's a better use of my presidential campaign mojo (and there aren't too many undecided Prop 8 voters in my neighborhood - we are on the edge of the Castro after all).
But thiswas nonetheless a good pick me up this morning.
THE CHRONICLE RECOMMENDS: Barack Obama for president
Why Obama is the choice
The Illinois senator has shown beyond a doubt that he is the one to lead the nation in troubled times.
The Chron editorial focuses in large part on Obama's demeanor - "Obama demonstrated a presidential depth and temperament"
Throughout a campaign that has been intense - and at some points ugly - Obama has kept his composure and maintained a vision of optimism that has drawn an unparalleled wave of young people into the political process. His policies and his persona have offered hope to a nation that is deeply polarized, swimming in debt, mired in war and ridden with anxiety. He taps into that treasured American reservoir - patriotism - with his calls for sacrifice and national service.
Barack Obama is the right president for these troubled times.
Shout out to any "Drivers for Change" out there going to Carson City who feel like a little post canvassing beer in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night.
