There is a great diary scrolling down right now by WinSmith titled "The Bias of Tom Brokaw".
No doubt resides in my mind on what positions Tom Brokaw holds. Out of all the questions he chose to ask Colin Powell, Brokaw resorted to sandbagging him with set-ups like WMD and how Powell acted during an Iraq Study Group meeting:
and he resorted to concern trollesque questions like experience, GOP standards like a timeline for the war and Bill Ayers in Iraq, and several questions about race in the race were glaringly out of place and unnecessary: (this video should work)
Just about every question Brokaw asked was a spitball. Does anyone remember this question of Joe Biden last month:
This is the way you get ideas in: Is it elitist? Some people will think, we don't know how many, but some people will wonder about race? Powell's judgement was wrong on Cheney and Bush, infer it could be wrong now...
But you never hear Brokaw ask questions like: Is John McCain out of touch or elitist? Does his support of President Bush hurt him or show HIM to be wrong? Is he too old? Is Sarah Palin experienced?
But the first question out of the gate for Brokaw was basically, "Just because he can run a successful campaign, does that mean he can lead?" And the last question of the show was about John Lewis:
We have not yet talked about John Lewis who compared John McCain to George Wallace and the division and the hate as he described it. He then backed off in a manner of speaking of some of that, but do you think that might have driven some people who were kind of on the margin to think more about race and think about it in a negative way as they go into the voting both and think, "If he's going to invoke that, I don't think I can vote for a black man."
WTF kind of question is that? THAT'S the question? Or is that the suggestion?
IMO, Brokaw is an astroturf motherfucker who is trying to create doubt rather than report on it, trying to manufacture distrust rather than report on the organic nature of the race, would rather ask questions that are divisive in nature than report the ideas at hand.
Brokaw is a manufacturer, not a reporter and what he manufacturers is doubt and lies.
UPDATE: Ugh, for some reason it is taking a long time for these videos to process. I apologize for putting this up before they did, but it really should not have taken this long.
