I read somewhere recently that Karl Rove said of Howard Dean something along the lines of, "We've never had an angry president."
Karl Rove should be eating his words right now.
From Politico:
We just followed McCain down the steps following the vote to ask him about the reaction of House Republicans to the vote.
He didn't appreciate the company.
McCain: "Excuse me, you're bothering me."
Politico: "I'm bothering you?"
McCain: "Excuse me, I have to go."
This was last night at 9:30.
So when that 3AM phone call rings, and al-Maliki calls and says there's an emergency, or Gates or Petraues is on the horn... what's the answer gonna be?
You're bothering me?
Does this man have the disposition to be President? I can't say enough about his policies. They're disastrous enough. But when you are just rude and condescending to everyone, including members of the press who are asking a simple, non-intrusive question, can you really be counted on to have a level head during times of crisis?
We already know he can't handle more than two things at once.
We already know that his Vice Presidential nominee can't be counted on to pick up the slack.
Is he suited to be President of the United States, when he's just an angry, grumpy man?
I really think the Obama campaign needs to start hitting his personality traits harder. We can get all the people in the country who care about policy on our side, but that might not be enough. We need the people who consider whether or not they'd have a beer with the President. And clearly, a President McCain would never sit down to have a beer with anyone, and if he did, he's sit there and whine and moan and just be a grumpy, angry old man.
Update:
It's 3AM, and your children are safe and asleep.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
President McCain: I'm sleeping.
Robert Gates: Mr. President, we have a problem.
McCain: You're bothering me.
Gates: But, sir...
McCain: Go talk to Sar... ah... shit... um...
Gates: Hello?
McCain: JUST FUCKING BOMB 'EM, I DON'T CARE!
Update 2: A new slogan for Obama supporters: John McCain has 7 homes. Let's not give him an 8th. (Fade to picture of White House)
