"We the People of the United States". That is the first thing said in the Constitution of the United States of America. Do John McCain, Sarah Palin, the Republican Party, and their followers know this? The first word is not US, it is WE. As in "All of US". Not just the rich folks, the poor folks or the middle class. It means every one that is a citizen of this great nation. George Bush and the Republican party have played to their own red-meat eating constitutes for so long that I believe they have forgotten that America is the same country in "ALL" 50 states. In every square mile of each and every state. Not just the farm lands, the outback, or the back-roads. Small-town America grows those who move to the "big" city to live.
I grew up in small town America and I left it as soon as I discovered that there is more to life than the 20 mile radius around your home town. Most people that leave do go back and stay in contact. But we are still Americans. The Republicans and their far-right followers have never left the small town mentality that is necessary to be able to see the "Real" world. A world where we are all the same, with the same aspirations and dreams. That is what is so great about it, we can all dream and have those dreams come true. No matter what part of America we are from. There are no PRO or ANTI areas. Maybe if they paid more attention to the "real" world they could see that. Sarah and John need to take the time and look at a map. Alaska is about as far away from the continental US as you can be and what gives Palin the nerve to step foot on the "real" America to try and divide it even more. I say she and all of those who love her so much, Pat Buchannan, Rush, Hannity, Morning Joe and the FOX network can take their hate-filled, racist, stone hearts and move to Alaska. The country would be so much better if the nuts didn't live here. She and her husband want to secede from the country, go ahead. There are so many moderate and liberal conservatives moving away from the campaign it is pathetic. People with rational minds know racism and hate when they see it. This is so far from actual politics it’s sad. Sad that a man that use to have so much honor now is no better a person than someone like Rush and Hannity.
The statements that McCain’s campaign keeps putting out only makes them seem more and more erratic, uneventful, and lost. I guess if you have no plan then the only thing you can do is make your opponent look bad. The stupid thing about this strategy for McCain is, it has been done before, and it failed miserably. They need to at least try and come up with something new. Try using what is working for Obama, unity, hope, respect for "All", not just those animals you feed the red meat to.
I sat down yesterday and watched that eventful night in Denver again to try and see if there is a difference in the man I saw that night and the man I see now. Emotional. Emotional because at that time he didn’t know what was heading his way. His confidence then turned into the courage and strength he has shown thru the economic crisis, the smear campaign, and the vision he speaks of for the future in this country. I urge all of you to take another look at the video and see if you don’t come to the conclusion that you are surely making the "Right" decision to vote "Obama in 08".
