So, I was phonebanking tonight in the "T". Oh, scary! What "T" do I speak of, you ask! Well the "T" in Pennsyltucky. I was on the verge of tears! Yes, the experience was something else. I couldn't believe what I was hearing....
The first 25 calls I made were either not homes or Obama supporters. Among the people that I spoke to who were married, one spouse would let me know that they were both voting for Obama. I was told, "Don't waste your time, he has my vote." I was told, "We love Obama!" I was told, "I am a Democrat and I am voting for Obama." This is the "T" folks!
Guess what I didn't hear?!? Not one person said they were voting for McCain. Not one person said they were undecided. I had three people tell me they weren't interested, one of these people didn't want his dinner to get cold. But I didn't not receive any negativity at all!
So someone please tell me what is McCain smokin'? Why do they believe they can win Pennsylvania? A Republican in better circumnstances has not won Pennsylvania in 20 years!! I have called into hostile areas before, but tonight, calling into the "T" was beautiful. A few times I got overwhelmed (not while on the call) and had to fight back tears. If you are not on the ground, if you are not volunteering, if you are not making calls, it is easy to believe the stereotypes about the "T" that the media likes to promote. But I have witnessed something different. I have heard affirmations of hope and change in areas where all the pundits said it could not be done!
So, I hope this diary will encourage others to get serious about what needs to be done! No regrets and leave it all on the floor! Go to my.barackobama.com, join and call or canvass. Keep fighting because we can win our country back. They are on the ropes and with our vigilance, our determination, our fight, our volunteerism, our contributions, we can land the knock-out punch!! We can not lose this one folks!!!
