When I was pregnant with my first child, 9/11 happened and I wondered what kind of world I was bringing a child into. I was in Ecuador on my honeymoon [yes, unwed mama] when we went into Iraq and I was crying in the airport, devastated that my country, in my name was attacking a country not known for the terrorists we were searching for.
And now, FINALLY, I am not just casting a vote for the lesser of two evils, I am voting for a man that I can believe in! [cheese factor unintended]
Yesterday I took my two boys with me to our early voting place.
My eldest scrolled the rotary dial until it lit up Obama, and pressed the little red button. My youngest, did the same for Noriega [TX Sen]
Eldest asked why there were partitions, I said, "So that your vote can be private." All the while laughing because they were looking for the word Democrat while talking loudly as we went through the ballot.
When it was time to submit our ballot, we all placed our hands on the "apple shaped button" - as described by the 4 y/o, and we all voted for Obama.
I am excited that my beautiful kids were proud of their "I voted" stickers and I have little doubt that they will be voting for the rest of their lives.
