Yes, I admit...I wish that I had broken this story. I also acknowledge that I do not usually write about stories which are more than twelve hours old. However...there is something so inherently wrong, AND so inherently Republican about this story that significant subtle nuances which could only come from Your Favorite Sheep Dog are well-worth one more Posting on this topic.
There is such incredible, blatant and arrogant hypocrisy associated with this story. The most difficult issues are where to begin, and how to avoid running to the nearest window to scream, "I'm mad as hell...and, I'm not going to take it anymore!"
After careful consideration, I have to begin by reminding Readers of something I wrote about almost two years ago. There are many and obvious differences between Conservatives and Progressives. Virtually all of these differences can be summed up, however, by understanding THE core principle which shapes the totality of Conservative thought.
"Some number of my fellow citizens are expendable."
One "Conservative" wants to reduce taxes on corporations, or high income individuals. Another "Conservative wants to end all welfare, or reduce student loans, or eliminate the Department of Education, or oppose health care for all Americans. Yet Another "Conservative" opposes abortion, supports the death penalty, has no trouble with the reilgious right bombing Women's health Centers and shooting doctors, but is willing to sacrifice your Constitutional Rights in order to keep you safe from Islamic Terrorism.
The common theme running through these and virtually all aspects of either "Conservative Ideology" or "Conservative Theology" is the notion that some number of my fellow citizens, determined and designated by me, using criteria that is constructed and measured by me, and whose implementationwill only ever benefit me, and those who are part of my group...are expendable.
Funny thing...I can't say I have ever met a single "Conservative" who has even considered the possibility that they might wake up some morning, only to find that, overnight, another "Conservative" may have moved him or her, into that category of fellow citizens who is all of a sudden not on the "Approved Friends List". Ya just have to love it when that happens.
With that as the backdrop...let's spend a few moments addressing the finery which we know now lines the closet of Sarah Palin.
I have to at least open this section by reminding Readers of the photos of Sarah and her Klan dropping into a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, on an emergency diaper run. Sarah was billed as "the Hockey Mom" who shops at Wal-Mart "all the time". There was, of course, one difference between Sarah and the othe diaper purchasing hockey Moms in that Wal-Mart, on that day.
The other "Pamper-toting Hockey Moms" didn't have a $9,000 Professional Hairdresser waiting in the "Straight Talk Express," and weren't wearing a $30,000 business suit at the time.
Should any of this actually surprise Americans, though?
John McCain and the RNC have never had to worry about money. McCain grew up with Silver Spoons coming out of both sides of his mouth...and as an adult, "traded up" in wives, to one with a Trust Fund suggested to be worth as much as $600 Million Dollars. Cindy McCain admittedly spent $300,000 on one outfit to wear to the Republican Convention, at the same time she was giving a speech telling Americans that she and john were "just like you".
John McCain has never received a pay check in his life which didn't come from a government job. If he were to become President, he would ultimately be entitled to FOUR US Goverment Pensions, to go along with the earnings he has received from the government.
John and Cindy McCain know one way, and one way only to live...never having to worry about where your next $300,000 outfit is coming from.
"Just like you," huh?
Oh, and before we forget...the $150,000 figure being thrown out in connection with what was spent on Sarah Palin...this is simply the amount which has been forcibly disclosed, to this point. The US Government does not put out a single statistic which isn't modified up to a "significantly less embarrassing figure" at some later date when fewer people are paying attention.
My guess is the same will ring true in this instance, as well. After all Cindy Trust Fund would NEVER let her husband trot his new trollop out for the first time in anything less than than SHE was sporting. I strongly suspect that the $79,000 which was spent at Neiman's in Minneapolis bought more than zero, but less than two outfits for Sarah. That would suggest that unless she has worn a total of two suits during her entire seven week tour...that there are a D&G bag full of receipts which just haven't found their way to the accounting department of the RNC yet.
Now...let's also ask how, in either good conscience...or LAW, that this $150,000 PLUS, to put lipstick on this pig (yes, I said it), can legally come from the RNC, and not the McCain Campaign? Also...if an actor is given $150,000 PLUS in clothing, for a feature film shoot, and the actor keeps the clothing...the actor is taxed on the value of the clothing, as ordinary income.
Until the media forced the RNC to acknowledge that it had in fact paid to "put Sarah out" there was no mention, whatsoever, of these clothes being "donated to charity". Now...post-exposure, I'm guessing Sarah feels a bit bummed to find out that all of her pretty new leather and bend-me-over pumps, are going to end up at Goodwill, for potential use by the hottest looking homeless chick in Biloxi.
Okay...it really is starting to look like Sarah Palin has gotten even farther into that part of the pool which requires a life vest, that anyone may have thought. I did truly believe she was a rube. But, after all...she had sort of slept her way to the middle, from the standpoint that she had maneuvered her way to a position where it was pretty clear that she at least knew how to work the system, such as it existed in Jerkwater, Alaska.
Now, however, it is becoming more than clear that not only is she "Not Ready For PrimeTime"...she isn't even ready for a 3AM Infomercial. And, the fact that she may very well BE ready for the Home Shopping Network, isn't going to make any of this any easier for Americans to swallow.
When a "Hockey Mom" goes to Wal-Mart, she is usually in Jeans and a "T" looking to grab off a discount hockey stick for her son, or even daughter. The Jeans and "T" were also bought at the same Wal-Mart, and she is likely paying for the hockey stick with the fifteen bucks she saved by not taking the kids to McDonald's last night.
We now know, that Sarah Palin shops at Wal-Mart, in $30,000 PLUS suits, so she can make sure "people like her" can see her on national television using either taxpayer dollars, or a portion of her RNC Welfare Check, to purchase the same brand of diapers that you buy...with money that you would really rather be putting toward your health insurance premium.
Why doesn't the RNC really do its part to turn this economy around? How about...they give EVERY AMERICAN a $150,000 PLUS clothing budget? Don't send me a 1099, so I don't have to pay income taxes on any of the booty...and I will agree to drop my new Hooker Clothes at the local Goodwill Store, or Salvation Army, anytime they like. In the meantime...we can ALL go to our kids' Hockey Games dressed to the 9's, 900's, or even 9,000's. I don't know if that will make our kids score any more goals, or make better saves...but, it would sure as hell make the rest of us feel better. And, wouldn't THAT make us want to just run out and further stimulate the economy?
John McCain is a fraud...is, was, and always will be. The selection of Daisy Duke Palin, was the first, last stitch attempt to salvage a campaign which was doomed before it began. The fact that John McCain, the RNC and even Cindty Trust Fund felt the need to further bullshit the entire Country by transforming an AK-47 toting reject from "The Next Nashville Star" into Princess Diana, without either being honest about it...or paying taxes on the income received...and the selling the theme that Little Sarah Spears is "JUST LIKE US" is a testament to the core Conservative principle that everyone and everything is expendable... as long as it keeps all the power in their hands.
The good news is...John, Cindy, Princess Palin and the RNC are going to wake up two weeks from today, only to find that the rest of the Nation has declared each of them to be on the wrong side of the expendable ledger.
Like I said yesterday...all you have to do, is let them keep talking.
