What a great way to start the day! A new Wisconsin Public Radio / St. Norberts College poll was released today. The poll is a random telephone poll of 400 Wisconsin residents. It has a margin of error of +/- 5%.
It looks great! Results below-
Obama has a 51-38 lead over McCain with only 5% undecided. Of responses that indicated a choice, 90% are somewhat or very enthusiastic of their choice -- so the numbers should stay stable!
Economy is listed as the number 1 issue by 61% no other issue gets above 10% -- another good sign for Obama.
Obama wins by big numbers on all of these issues: Health care, economy, taxes, energy, understanding what is important to the average citizen (60-25!), change.
Also, Biden's "flub" from the other day about Obama being tested may be a really smart comment. When asked how the candidates would respond to an unexpected challenge, Obama wins by 7%!
Is Palin qualified? 38% yes, 56% No.
Is Biden qualified? 70% yes, 19% No.

In a surveyusa poll, it also looks good for Wisconsin 8th congressional district. Kagen (d) beat Gard (r) in the last election in a very tight race. This is probably the most contested race in Wisconsin. The 8th has only been represented by a Dem for 8 of the last 100 years.
Here is what a fellow Republican thinks of John Gard (when he was a state legislator)-
Republican political commentator Kerry Tomas:
"John Gard has blatantly abused his public office, breached the public trust placed in him. ... He... spent time building a gang of thugs and bullies, using fear and intimidation to advance his own political career, the only career this professional politician has ever known." Kagen is up around 10%!
