The topline number is a McCain lead of less than four points, meaning the state is no longer "Leans Republican" and is now considered a "Toss up." The tipping point, apparently, came from the latest Insider Advantage poll, released last Friday and giving Obama a one-point lead in the Peach State. Even though that poll has been widely commented on here, the news is that when added in to the pollster.com average it flipped the state out of the McCain column.
Could it be true? Could the GOP lock on the South be coming to an end?
There's been some speculation on the site that the GOP is in danger of becoming a regional southern party. With Obama's massive gains in the South, even that might be out of reach.
