Time to sweep away the ashes of our burnt and defiled American banner. Very soon, the bold, the beautiful American flag will re-assume its rightful symbol of the great American ideals all Americans really stand for. Here's some ideas on how we can all resurrect and reclaim this sacred symbol of our country.
- If you do not already have an American flag, go out and buy the biggest one you can and Nov. 5th, if Obama safely prevails, proudly fly it on your house, your ranch, business as publicly as you can. For it will have taken on great new meaning, hope and history.
- If fireworks are legal in your state and you have some or can get some and it is safe to do so, let loose all the pyrotechnical noise and beauty you can the minute CNN calls the election regardless of the hour.
- Keep your flag up through the inauguration. This is the time to show what liberal, progressive patriotism is about.
What we may soon experience is nothing less than a revolution, a liberation from eight years of unacceptable economic tyranny and outrageous foreign policy abroad in our name and our flag. Let's not be so quick to slide back into indifference after the election but re-enforce conquest by celebrating no less than we would the first time America experienced independence.
And staying involved, passionate and active in the difficult and hard work of change.
Wave that fresh, new beautiful flag November 5, 2008.
