There has been a lot of talk about what Change is and what Change looks like. Often, I think that is such a silly question because from my vantage point, it's obvious.
Change looks like the 80 year old couple that shows up to learn how to phone bank over the Internet. Change looks like the suburban mother who, for the first time ever, intently watched all three presidential debates. Change is the electorate taking charge of the election. It is the millions of people across the nation speaking with friends, neighbors, and complete strangers about their choices and their futures.
Change has no minimum age requirement and certainly no age limit. Change is about how we view the world and our place in it. Change will be when the voters reject the politics that divide us and embrace the politics that unite us.
Change looks like a 25 year old candidate on Long Island with a firm grasp on the challenges facing our nation and the big ideas needed to confront them.
Unfortunately not everyone really understands the motivation of our desire for Change this year. Recently, Newsday, the area's local newspaper, endorsed the Republican incumbent, Peter King. They praised Graham at every turn, but ultimately went with King because, "if Democrats, as expected, broaden their control in Congress this fall, a strong and nationally recognized Republican voice like King's is needed to help hold them accountable."
With all due respect to Newsday, we could not disagree more. Accountability has nothing to do with the Party of your representative, but his or her character. Wrong ideas are still wrong ideas, regardless of which party is in the majority. We need solutions and a bold vision in this country. Not more of the same.
We think the difference is clear. We came up with the above video to put Graham in his words side-by-side with Mr. King in his words. I hope that you will share with us your thoughts and help us spread the word. Please forward the video or even this email to all your friends and family.
One thing is for sure, we cannot wait around for Change to happen; we have to make it happen.
