Yesterday I joined about 3,200 others in an historic New Mexico plaza to hear Michelle Obama speak. An early arrival gave me the opportunity to be near the podium and I was able to make these shots. It was a beautiful sunny day, with clear blue skies that the southwest does so well. The local news interviewed some of us in line and when asked why I was there it was hard not to reply, "Because I want to see our next First Lady in person, silly!" But I didn't. I was very grown up and composed.
I had seen Barack in Espanola in September, and taking my camera as an afterthought managed to get some pretty good shots, in the crowd with everyone else, not on the press platform. These images inspired me to create a website for Obama and I have been writing a lot on voter suppression and protection, as you may know if you've looked at my dairy here.
Michelle says: GET OUT THE VOTE!
