Has played out in the last year and a half all over the place.
I’ve seen versions of THIS election played out all over the Caribbean and to an extent – the west.
In the past year and a half – there have been changes of government in :
Belize, Bahamas, Antigua, Barbados, Jamaica with soon more to fall.
The whole "change" mantra was the theme for the victors.
Case in point. I am of Jamaican descent and follow the local politics keenly.
After 18 years of governance but the ruling PNP, the country’s economy had gone south and people had grown fed up of the party. The candidate who was running for that party’s new term was a newly elected leader of the party – but still of the government.
The challenging JLP had a bright, charismatic leader with ground game who came with the theme "Jamaica needs a CHANGE now"
Seeing that CHANGE was sweeping the country, the PNP’s leader said – SHE was the change (since she was the new leader of the incumbent party) – not the opposition
And for a while it was close.
After 3 debates and in the final month – the race broke – for the challenger.
He won narrowly, but strongly nonetheless.
That story has been repeated in the countries I named above.
Tories looking to come back in England is well.
CHANGE has been on the march for a while now folks.
About to be realized here.
