My sister has been with her partner for 12 years. When California made way for them to be married they were all for it....until Prop 8 came about. My sister then changed her mind....what happens if we DO get married? Will they tell me (after say, God forbid, a prop 8 passage) my marriage is null and void? When she gets married - she wants it to be "forever" the thought of putting herself out there and then for "others" to say you "don't count or you don't matter" hurts her to her core. She called me and said she changed her mind...follow me over the fold for my plea..
She has decided that they can't just nullify the marriages of everyone that has gotten married, so....they are going to do it tomorrow (one of my favorite days). They were going to go get their license (along with some friends) and get married right before playing a round of golf (they are golfing fools!). My sister's partner was going to get deputized/notarized/authorized...to do their ceremony and one of the other lady's was gonna perform their ceremony. My husband and I were gonna go and be "witnesses".
Well......imagine my surprise this morning when I got a call from my sister telling me that the four of them had a discussion and they would like to all get married at the same time (not as to waste golfing time, in case the forecast for rain is correct)and they want me to do it!
So here is my plea Kossacks....help me with some words of wisdom ~ I am about to marry my sister and her partner of 12 years and their friends (Lori & Anne - together for 15 years). I am truly honored to be doing this and I need something good (Except I have been volunteering a lot of my time to Barack Obama and I am still in Barack mode). So...if ya'll can help a girl out ~ I would greatly appreciate it : )
