I live in Georgia and much has been diaried about our long voting lines. I cannot work (drive others) to the polls on November 4th because I am legally blind in one eye, and I want something to do--I want to keep my fellow Americans in line to vote.
That's when I decided that I can bake cookies and take bottled water to those waiting in long lines.
More below:
I will bake homemade cookies and brownies and take them in baggies to voters in long lines. One voter in a 6+ hour line said on TV that he was tempted to leave because he was really hungry. I have a cooler with wheels and my bottled water can go there. I live pretty close to one poll and can keep checking the line and returning home for to refill the cooler with water.
I am planning to be an unofficial line keeper. Whatever I can do to keep people in line to vote works for me. If the lines get too long I will swing by my house and bring lawn chairs too. Whatever it takes to keep people in line I am committing to do? Are there any other folks ready to be a line keeper? One more thing I will also have my video camera in my car in case I need it. There's plenty still to do. Find your spot. Do your best.
