Everyone knows that Senator McAint is a very wealthy man, having married into a beer fortune. The narrative surrounding Governor Palin, on the other hand, is that of a middle class family, struggling to make ends meet, like you and I, whom she calls in her endearing way, Joe 6pack.
The New York TImes and other media outlets have done over the Palin's newly released tax returns. Link and lead paragraph.

The McCain campaign released financial documents on Friday indicating that Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska had assets over $1 million, consisting largely of an ample retirement portfolio, real estate and her husband’s commercial fishing business.
Darn, Charlie, that's doggone far more than the great majority of Americans. Golly gee!!! If she shops at Walmart is probably because there's no Bloomingdale's in the area!
ABC News, on the other hand, seems a small problem brewing (and we can all make sure it doesn't go way). You see, the Palins received 17,000 in per diem payments, basically for stayin' at her own home. And they did not pay taxes on those dollars.

What does that show in my ever so humble opinion? 1) That the whole accent, talk, language, her entire persona is a show, consciously created, carefully crafted and rehearsed to claim to be who she's not (the wolf dressed as a sheep. 2) That she's full of crap and so are her handlers in the GOP and 3) That's she's a millionaire maverick.
Worst of all is that we see a scripted, programmed person ready to use the wealth of the state as her own. I guess there's something behind her winking.
Say it ain't so Sarah.
Charlie? Charlie?
Darn!
