With the debate being held on Thursday, today would be when we would see the effect of it. As such, the race remained unchanged, Palin went into a debate with the lowest expectations ever and met those expectations. Battleground, whose polls till now had a Repub lean show Obama +7 in their tracking.
So we now have the Rasmussen daily poll for today out, Obama enjoying his biggest lead ever at +8.
Rasmussen Daily Tracking
Some important notes:
It also continues a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat’s support has never declined by even a single point.
Even better news for Democrats, their challenges to incumbent Repubs in House/Senate is gaining momentum:
If people could vote on whether to keep or replace the entire Congress, just 17% would vote to keep them and 59% would replace the entire Congress and start over again.
Nobody in 2004 enjoyed such a lead:
It is worth noting that Obama’s lead is now bigger than any lead enjoyed at any point by either candidate in Election 2004.
More voters are committed to Obama than McCain:
Forty-four percent (44%) of voters say they are certain they will vote for Obama and will not change their mind. Thirty-eight percent (38%) say the same about McCain. Fourteen percent (14%) currently have a preference for one of the candidates but might change their mind. Four percent (4%) are either undecided or plan to vote for a third-party candidate.
Obama's job in the next two debates and the next couple of weeks is to bring that number from 44% to 50%, so the chances of support he is enjoying eroding is almost negligible. He did that in the last debate, Biden helped him do that in the VP debate and he shall do that over the next two weeks.
Update:
The Battleground tracking poll is out with its numbers, Obama +7, 50-43. Remember, this is the poll which till now had a Repub lean and still might as I can't find its methodoly anywhere.
