Nothing much to say -- I got up this morning at 5 to take a look at the school and see if folks were already out. Met a few neighbors on the way and saw about 15 folks in line so I woke up my roommate and we walked back over to the school. It was about 5:20 by this time. There were now about 40 folks lined up. By the time the polls opened there was a line of folks lined up around the parking lot and cars streaming in.
Inside was an efficient operation with both electronic voting machines and paper ballots. My landlord was there as a poll watcher. There didn't appear to be any Republican poll watchers - they were identified by party on their nametags and none of three tables had a Republican. There were also no Republican volunteers in the parking lot. As a frequent election day volunteer, that seemed a bit strange. Maybe they didn't get up early or something!
It took me about 15 minutes to vote. Nobody in the line looked like they were going anywhere until they voted. The elections staff were working to make sure the lines moved quickly and helping folks all along the way. I sincerely hope their diligence and hard work is the norm this election day so everybody has a decent time voting.
Call all your friends and make sure they've voted!
