One line I woke up to this morning was the line from Jurassic Park, spoken by Samuel L. Jackson who has many memorable lines. My thoughts on Election Day over the fold
As he's rebooting the computer grid, which is like rebooting the world, he says "Hold on to your butts". I think the same can be said for us today. We're trying to reboot the crashed US. And while it worked for him, it didn't all come back at once. It won't come easily - he wound up losing his life because he thought the hard part was over, and relaxed too soon.
We've got a lot of hard work ahead of us, win or lose today. I firmly believe we're going to win and I'm off to my coordinating office when I finish this to go be a canvassing coordinator today. I will work to get out the votes so that Barack can win Jefferson County, one of the targeted counties in this swing state of Colorado. But after today, I will still be working hard - working to keep our elected politicians to their promises, working to keep the in the "Better Democrats" category.
We've got a chance today to take the first step on the long road of recovery of the last eight years - and while Bushco isn't done looting and plundering, and they're going to be incredibly mean-spirited as they leave office, we'll have told the world that we truly are that country they used to admire, even as those amongst them hated some of the evil things people did in our name. We need to convince the world that America can realize a mistake and we can vote to correct it. Voting for McCain would be a sign to the rest of the world that we really are as bad as we've been the last eight years and I believe we are better than that. The world is watching, and we're part of the world. The isolationist policies of McCain and the Republicans need to be thoroughly renounced today and I'm going to stand proud in future years to say I helped reboot the US in 2008 and I'm going to keep working to make my country live up to our highest ideals.
I'm glad so many of you Kossacks are going to be out there with me. Now, all together,
Hold on to your butts!
