We are already having people reporting problems with voting. I thought it might be useful to have diary for people who have experienced problems, intimidation or suppression to post their experiences and ask for help or other solutions.
Here are some resources after the fold:
Hattip Thirsty Gator who suggested the following in the comments:
Before you report abuse or suppression, stop and think for a second, "is this really abuse or suppression or is it an error?"
Remember that the elections officials are, in the VAST majority of cases, not out to get you. They are, again, in the VAST majority of cases, good honest people - but they are humans, and they screw up just like you and I do. They're also probably working harder (and more frantically) than they've ever worked on this.
So take a deep breath before you accuse anyone of disenfranchising you. For your sake and theirs.
If you have trouble voting please:
- recheck your polling site through the Obama link
- Call the Obama Hotline at 1-877-US-4-Obama
- If you can't get through there try the ACLU voter rights number at 1-877-523-2792
- CNN is trying to get some stories too. Call the CNN Voter Hotline at 877-GOCNN-08.
- Contact your local media
- Add your story to the voter suppression wiki
In the comments, please list the state, city, polling place and the problem that you are having
- Please rec' this diary so we can keep it on top.
