The importance of a well-written diary cannot be understated (catchy and profound opening line). Some people write short diaries with little substance that still elicit considerable attention(generalization). Others enjoy writing long missives with little or no point to them (another generalization). Still others (yes, a final generalization) find that simply posting a picture of their pootie (animal, not anatomical reference) is sufficient content for a diary. (divided thesis coming...)But the real reason it's important to write a solid, five paragraph diary is that it (point number one), it (point number two) and most importantly (point number three).

Repeat point number one as topic sentence. Supporting sentence with key reasoning for point number one. Secondary sentence with additional explanation of point number one.
Quoted text by respected expert that either furthers point number one or elicits subconscious nod of approval from audience.
--reference (including link to said expert)
Sentence (optional) explaining how above blockquote is applicable. Closing sentence to make point number one excruciatingly clear.
Repeat point number two as topic sentence. Supporting sentence with key reasoning for point number two. Secondary sentence with additional explanation of point number two.
Quoted text by respected expert that either furthers point number two or elicits subconscious nod of approval from audience.
--reference (including link to said expert)
Sentence (optional) explaining how above blockquote is applicable. Closing sentence to make point number two excruciatingly clear.
Now is a good time for a transitional sentence leading to point number three topic sentence. Supporting sentence with key reasoning for point number three. Secondary sentence with additional explanation of point number three. Additional explanation of point number three (maybe more than one or two sentences, even, as this is the key point you intend to make).
Concluding paragraph with assertion in topic sentence stating that by now, the reader must agree with the premise of the diary. Summary sentence reiterating points one and two. Additional summary sentence with point number three explained yet again.
catchy blockquote of yet another outside resource that makes the diarist look not only witty, but educated because they're so well read
Concluding sentence thanking audience for reading and possibly making a call to action.

Gratuitous pootie and/or woozle pic(sized appropriately with width="450" so it doesn't block the rec list) because it's good for the mojo.
