A friend recently sent me this link. Callie Shell followed Obama for about two and a half years (on assignment for Time -yeah, yeah) photographing him during this long campaign. We've all seen pictures, but these really got to me.
As a piece of photo journalism - her images are remarkable, in some ways even more extraordinary than those recently published of Bobby Kennedy during his 72 day campaign.
The pictures capture a sense of the solitariness, the exhaustion, the nature of him and his family, and the sense of walking a precipice even as Obama travelled farther than any one ever imagined.
