NBC's Today Show, NBC Nightly News, CNN's Larry King Live, Fox News's On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, CNN's Situation Room, and ABC's Good Morning America have all aired extensive two part interviews with Sarah Palin over the past 3 days.
I am becoming increasingly concerned and furious at the saturation media coverage that the media is giving Sarah Palin this week. For those of you who may have been too busy to notice, Palin has been EVERYWHERE on the cable and broadcast networks over the past 3 days. Indeed, she is getting as much coverrage as the media would give a major breaking news story. Our first African American President, the massive majorities that the democrats obtained in Congress, and our gains at the state legislature level are being ignored. The so-called liberal media seems disinterested that we have a new president-elect, a historic one at that.
Yesterday, MSNBC spent at least 20 minutes of each daytime (non primetime hour) discussing her. Today CNN's Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer gave her from 4:05 to about 4:23 ET uninterrupted by commercial breaks to spew lies about our president-elect and to AGAIN accuse him falsely of being connected to terrorists. Yesterday, NBC Nightly news, and yesterday and Today, Matt Lauer and Meredith Vierra gushed over her and gave her a 2 part 2-day interview.
No failed vice presidential candidate in HISTORY has ever gotten this much coverage. Indeed, Governor Palin is being covered more than the president-elect. What the heck is going on here? The media in this country has jumped the shark. It is no longer (was it ever) a constellation of outlets covering and investigating the news, it is an official arm of the republican party.
My feeling tonight is that NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC senior execs issued a directive last week because they perceive her to be the most serious threat to an Obama re-election (rightly or wrongly) to immediately give her massive amounts of air-time to try to rehabilitate her image. They know that she doesn't have a prayer of getting elected in 2012 as her reputation stands now so the powers-that-be have ordered the media to launch a rehabillitative effort immediately.
Believe me, I KNOW how far out there this seems but I'm very distressed about this. No losing presidential ticket member in modern history has ever gotten this amount of coverage. I want to know WHY. Even President-Elect Obama after his stirring 2004 democratic keynote speech did not get saturation media coverage like this. Quayle in 1992 didn't get this.
This person is even offering our next first lady advice on how to raise her children and offering herself to be appointed to a position in the Obama administration. She said that in her CNN interviews today!!
WTF is going on here????
Why is the media more interested in a failed ticket than they our in an incoming new administration from a new party. The story lies with the democratic ascendancy. Not with this crazy fool.
Tommorow, Sarah Palin will give a press conference and speak before the governor's association meeting. I'm sure she'll be on TV ALL day tommorrow as well.
Again WHY?? I thought that a side benefit of winning this election was that we would never have to hear from this woman again (at least for 4 years) Why is the media trying to rehabilitate her? Why is she being interviewed by all stations? And any one knows that any publicity is good publicity.
If someone can talk me down here, I'd very much appreciate it. Why is President-Elect Obama irrelevant and Palin the only thing that matters in the media's eyes?
I wanted to enjoy this stunning victory. The media and Palin have ruined it.
