In the latest Orwellian development from the bloated TSA bureaucracy, "behavior detection officers" are being used to profile Americans who seem to show signs of "fear" and "stress" at airports.
"Persaud and other behavior screeners are trained to look for physical indicators to identify suspicious travelers passing through an airport security checkpoint. Airport screener Rupesh Persaud still remembers the day he first discovered that the behavior detection training he'd received from the Transportation Security Administration actually works.
The 30-year-old used the physical indicators he'd been taught -- deception and fear 'tells' similar to the those studied by professional poker players -- to identify a suspicious traveler passing through a security checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport. "
Said the Newark NJ Star Ledger.
Great. GEDs with a couple hours of poker tell "training" are profiling and detaining United States citizens at will. And who hasn’t been fearful and stressed when in an airport and about to fly in what passes for today’s air travel circus?
Once again, yet more of our freedoms are chipped away. Don't worry - just keep watching that football game.
And how are such Orwellian police-state tactics working for Persaud in everyday life? "It even works with my kids at home," he said.
